Thank you for visiting my website. I will walk with you through the procedures I perform. But first, you may wish to know something about my career and philosophy with regard to the care of my patients.
I work in conjunction with skilled health professionals to provide personalised holistic care before and after surgery.
I qualified from the University of Otago Medical School in 1982 and completed postgraduate training in plastic surgery in Christchurch and Auckland.
From 1990 - 1992 I was a fulltime research fellow at the Auckland School of Medicine where I grew skin in the laboratory and set up a skin bank to treat burns patients. I won the Louis Barnett Prize for best surgical paper in 1992 based on the skin research. (Louis Barnett was the professor of surgery at Otago University and Dunedin Hospital during the 1920s).
I undertook post-fellowship training at Queen Mary's Hospital, and St George's Hospital in London from 1993 - 1995.
I was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Travelling Fellowhip in 1994 and this enabled me to spend three months visiting plastic surgery and burns units in England, Holland and America.
I was the first New Zealand plastic surgeon to work as a Fellow in Aesthetic Plastic & Reconstructive surgery at the Humana Wellington Hospital in London, the largest private plastic surgery facility in the UK.
My final fellowship was at the Charing Cross Hospital in Fulham.
I have been in full time private practice in Auckland for eight years. I am a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and I am a past president of the New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
My plastic surgery clinics are at 126a Remuera Road and at The Skin Institute, 398 Lake Road Takapuna.
I have operating lists at the Ascot Hospital in Greenlane and the Auckland Surgical Centre in Remuera. I am also credentialled at the Mercy Hospital in Epsom as well as the Southern Cross hospitals. Where appropriate, I use the theatre at my rooms in Remuera for some cosmetic procedures, and for minor non-elective procedures. I also use the theatre at Lake Road for these procedures.
My Staff
Staff at my rooms are well trained and experienced in advising patients on pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery care. My practice nurse works with me on one of my hospital lists. My staff are conversant in the use of products I have researched to ensure that patients’ skin is in the best possible condition prior to and after surgery, and will offer comprehensive pre and postoperative programmes which I have formulated.
Referrals to other health professionals
I refer patients, where appropriate, to other skilled health professionals for personalised holistic care before and after surgery.
